Thoughts on Governor’s Council District Two Race

Governor's Council District Two

Thursday the voters of District Two chose Attorney Robert Jubinville as the Democratic candidate.

Candidate Jubinville will face Earl Sholley the Republican candidate in the November election.

As someone who has been a volunteer advocate with regards to the courts and the Governor’s Council for years, I feel that District Two has two candidates who will continue to move the council forward and hope that it will result in a better judiciary. I have known both candidates for a number of years and I would encourage voters to get to know them as well.

Candidate Jubinville did call for the abolition of the Governor’s Council, but he has also maintained that the function of vetting the nominations for judicial offices is one of utmost importance, a function that should not be lost in the shuffling of responsibilities of offices.

Both candidates have repeated raised concerns about “bad” judges and the role the Governor’s Council can play in preventing these people from being appointed to the bench.

I hope they are successful; the citizens of Massachusetts deserve no less.

District Two has not had representation on the Governor’s Council since the beginning of the year, the election is in November. I would hope that state Senators Joyce, Ross, Rush, Spika and Timility would see to it that the winner of that election is seated as soon as possible to allow the people of District Two to be properly represented.  I would urge all citizens of the district to make their feelings know to their senator.

Congratulations to Candidate Jubinville and Candidate Sholley and good luck in the election.
