Urban Science Academy Graduates Class of 2012

USA graduates Class of 2012

Historic Faneuil Hall was the setting for commencement for the (one of 2 high schools at the West Roxbury Education Complex) on Wednesday afternoon, June 6.

The graduates lined up outside the building and filed in single file at 3:45 and took their seats on the right side. The graduating class was larger this year than recent years due to the fact the Parkway Academy of Technology and Health merged with the Urban Science Academy last September. The WREC went from four high schools to two. Brook Farm merged with Media and Technology to form the other high school known as West Roxbury Academy.

The exercises began with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayra Class and the singing of the national anthem led by a group of students who formed a chorus.  The group also sang the tune 'The Wind Beneath My Wings'.

Welcoming all was headmaster Nicole Gittens. She introduced co-valedictorians Yohanny Herrera and Hang Nguyen. An invited speaker for the happy occasion was At-Large City Councilor Ayanna Pressley.
