West Roxbury Resident Finally Find Man with a Plan

During the past few years my home in West Roxbury has become infamous for a terrible flooding problem in the backyard. Our backyard happens to be the lowest point on the block. Situated in the very back of our property lies a wetland where birds and other wildlife have come to call home in recent spring and summer seasons. The heavy rains of spring used to cause small flooding, however through the past few years heavy rains have caused the whole yard to be underwater.

In my freshman year at UMass Amherst I met Chris McGue from Quincy. Chris had already received his Associate's degree in Landscape Contracting in 2009 and was studying for his B.A. in Building and Construction Technologies. Upon graduation in 2011, he began C.McGue Landscape Design & Construction. We stayed in contact and during the winter months he began to come up with a solution to our problem.
Having an odd layout for plot plans in our neighborhood made this project a challenge and we needed a contractor who was approachable, innovative and patient. Chris was just the man for the job with his dedicated work ethic and sharp attention to detail. After several months of revised estimates and plans, Chris came up with a plan that finally solved our backyard nightmare. Chris later measured the backyard and figured out that our property grade dropped off by two feet in the back! By regrading our property to be level, we could be two feet above the water. Finally, our backyard would be an enjoyable part of our home and not a desperate disaster!

Despite a bad run-in with a vicious patch of poison ivy and unbearable heat, Chris and his team worked tirelessly on our backyard. Although we still have to hydro-seed and install plantings, the finished product will be amazing and our yard is almost unrecognizable!

Chris uses the best equipment and pools together all his great resources to get the job done right! As a proud UMass Alum, Chris often employs and collaborates with other UMass Alums in the contracting business. Every contractor and laborer employed by Chris for the job was nothing short of friendly, intelligent, and
professional. The project went along smoothly because it was reassuring to know that Chris had selected no one but the very best from his own crew to excavaters and fence installation.

Not to mention that Chris was always available to address any concern at any time for us. At the very a hint of a problem, he was happy to come by and see it for himself.

Home rennovations are always stressful and very frustrating for everyone involved. I can't say that our project went off seemslessly from start to finish, however what made this project easier was the fact that Chris was always flexible, patient and happy to oblige our dozens of phone calls regarding questions and concerns.

Half of the battle of home rennovations is finding a contractor that not only understands your envisions, but is also easy to work with. I can't say enough good things about our experience with Chris for pulling off this project.
