Catholic Memorial's Kevin Donnelly of West Roxbury Makes Octo-Finals at National Speech Tourney

More than 2,700 competitors from 65 dioceses around the country converged at the tournament.

Kevin Donnelly of West Roxbury earned a trip to the National Catholic Forensic League Grand Tournament at George Mason University over Memorial Day weekend after an impressive year of wins in the category of original oratory.

At Nationals, Donnelly competed against 256 other students in his category. Despite not advancing to the finals, Donnelly had an impressive run on Friday and Saturday, making the octo-final round of 48.

“Our team represented us well this weekend,” said head coach Rob Croteau. “They enjoyed themselves, and they showed great enthusiasm for the competition. Their perseverance paid off.”

Over 2,700 competitors from 65 dioceses around the country converged at the tournament, which was held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. The team from CM came home with four octo-finalist medals and one quarterfinal medal in declamation and original oratory.
