CM Students Excel at Tournaments in Philly and Shrewsbury

Catholic Memorial's speech and debate team earned a third place trophy at Shrewsbury High School's prestigious Mardi Gras Forensics Tournament.

’s speech and debate team earned a third place trophy at Shrewsbury High School’s prestigious Mardi Gras Forensics Tournament on March 3, thanks to the efforts of West Roxbury seniors and .

The two earned a first-place finish, along with two teammates, in the multiple reading category. As a duo, they earned a fifth-place award, and as an individual, Donnelly earned a fourth-place award in the category of dramatic performance. Two weeks earlier, at the University of Pennsylvania’s “Liberty Bell Classic” in Philadelphia, Woodall earned a second place medal for dramatic performance, while the team finished in third place.

Other Parkway-area winners at the Shrewsbury tournament: freshman John Tonderys and Devin Williams-Agyeman, who made the semifinals in novice reading.

The team will host an Afternoon of Exceptional Oratory at the school on April 1, where students will perform award-winning pieces from 2-5 p.m. For more information, visit CatholicMemorial.org.
