Dan Guzman has been named senior producer of Morning Edition, the highly-respected daily news magazine program hosted in Boston by Bob Oakes
WBUR, Boston’s NPR news station, announced today that Dan Guzman has been named senior producer of Morning Edition, the highly-respected daily news magazine program hosted in Boston by Bob Oakes. In this new role, which takes effect immediately, Dan will oversee all material and editorial content produced locally for Morning Edition by WBUR, New England’s largest radio newsroom.
“Dan is an exceptional journalist and a rising star here at WBUR, where he has already worked for several years and helped shape some of our most important broadcasts,” said WBUR executive news director, Tom Melville. “He shares our commitment to providing high-quality, contextual stories and I’m delighted to have him in a leadership role on Morning Edition team, especially as we head into the 2016 election cycle. It’s going to be quite a year.”
Previously, Dan served as a producer for WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C. He has also worked at several other news outlets across the country, including KSDK-TV in St. Louis and New England Cable News in Boston. He arrived at WBUR in 2012 and has spent the past three years as a senior news writer on the Morning Edition team. He was elevated to Senior Producer after his predecessor, Dan Mauzy, was promoted to managing editor of news.
“I’m honored to take on this new and important role in the WBUR newsroom,” said Guzman. “Morning Edition is not only one of the market’s top-rated programs, but one of the world’s most respected news magazine shows. I look forward to continuing to work with this outstanding team to deliver smart, inquisitive news programming both on-air and online.”
