THE EVENT
The 18th Annual Corrib Classic 5k Road Race will take place on Sunday, June 5, 2011 beginning at 12:00 PM. This event is designed to provide an opportunity for runners of all abilities to experience a fun and challenging experience in the heart of the great Boston neighborhood of West Roxbury. The Race is hosted by the Bligh family of the Corrib Pub and Restaurant, sponsored by the Cooperative Bank, , and Gormley Funeral Services is the event patron. This event has grown into one of the premier “fun runs” in the Greater Boston area. It has become a particular favorite of beginning runners seeking a well-organized race component, which is only outdone by the extremely popular post-race celebration.
Benefiting the Corrib Charitable Trust, Inc, the event had a modest beginning with 250 runners in 1994. However, the growth of the race was evident in 2011 featuring 1,800 runners and 150 volunteers. More importantly, the annual event has raised over $815,000 for well-deservingyouth organizations and other charities in the West Roxbury community.
