It’s Dog Day at the Roslindale Village Main Street Farmers’ Market this Saturday, Sept. 22. Dog Day has been a hit in previous years and the celebration continues this year for our best friends—the four legged kind! The farmers’ market is a favorite spot of dog walkers every week, and this Saturday we’ll have special activities dedicated to dogs, as well as a showcase of Roslindale’s furriest in the Dog Parade. Activities planned include a competition for best trick, best costume and an award for the “Dog Mayor” of Boston. There will be prizes to winners from The Continental-Bed, Bath and Bone of West Roxbury. As in previous years there will be a group blessing of the dogs by members of Roslindale’s faith communities.
Lisa DiPietro from Pet Cabaret, Roslindale’s favorite pet supply and food store will emcee the dog parade, provide dog treat samples and will demonstrate dog training techniques. Judging for the best costume, the best trick and The Dog Mayor of Boston will be at 10:00 AM. The parade kicks off at 10:30 AM and the blessing of the dogs will be at 10:45 AM. Other vendors participating in Dog Day include The Animal Rescue League of Boston with information about adopting pets and Parkway Veterinary promoting pet health and wellness. All dogs participating need to be friendly, on leashes and well-behaved.
The Hank Victor Duo will perform under the tent from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Roslindale Village Main Street Farmers Market is every Saturday ‘til October 27 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM in Adams Park at the intersection of Washington St and Cummins Highway in Roslindale Village.
