Gary Koeppel will be the next RAA exhibiting artist at the Roslindale Library during the month of May, 2012.

Hosted by the Friends of the Roslindale Library, local artist Gary Koeppel will be the next RAA exhibiting artist at the Roslindale Library during the month of May, 2012.

 

Koeppel has spent 35 years looking at light and shadow in the landscape. He was a recipient of the 2005 Viewers Choice Award for the First Annual Roslindale Open Studios. In 2006, Koeppel was again awarded Viewers Choice, as well as Third Prize in the juried selection. His work has appeared in galleries, museums and art shows in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York and Connecticut as well as featured in "The Best of American Oils Vol.2, 2010. He holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Koepple will be available for an artist demonstration - "Painting Landscapes" on Saturday May 5 from 10-11 a.m. He will demonstrate his technique for painting landscapes while working from a photograph.He will discuss issues of working from photographic reference vs. plein air (on location) and the challenges presented by each as well as tips and tricks along the way.This event is free and open to the public. The Friends of the Roslindale Library is an all-volunteer group that assists the Branch with continually improving the library facility, its services and programs.
