How to Read a Poem Class

The Friends of the West Roxbury Library present two free classes for poetry readers.

Lance Ozier, a 20-year West Roxbury resident will be teaching the classes. In the past 10 years he has taught classes at Cambridge Center for Adult Education and to high school students at MIT's Educational Studies Program.

The first class "How to Read a Poem" is on Nov. 4. A description of the class from the Friends was, "Have you ever read a poem and wondered what is going on? Or, as the poet T.S. Eliot once wrote, have you "had the experience but missing the meaning"? In this class, you will learn eight simple techniques to help you make more sense of the poems you read.
