Plenty of Parkway bright spots even in losses.

The Parkway Pop Warner Falcons rebounded after consecutive losses and handed the Sandwich Bulldogs a couple of stinging defeats.

Last week, the Falcon squads were defeated by perennial powerhouse, Brockton. The E-team battled Brockton tenaciously, but could not counter the Boxers' left-side sweeps. The Boxers scored all four of their touchdowns on that play and defeated the Falcons 25-6.

The Falcons were the more physical team, sending battered Boxers to the bench throughout the game, but they could not overcome costly penalties that negated positive plays, including a bold, naked bootleg destined to result in a score.

The Falcons' lone score came on a kick-return by Omari Phillip to open the second half. Other highlights for the Falcons included a ferocious backfield hit by Philip that rattled the press-box windows and a nifty down-field pass from quarterback Cam Nahim to split end Cam Kewley on the "Golden Retriever". The latter play was executed flawlessly by the Falcons offensive line and backs, who gave Nahim significant time in the pocket and a clear throwing lane.

The E-team boys bounced back from their defeat in Brockton, throttling Sandwich 27-7 on Sunday. Jack Gilbride and Jimmy Sullivan led aggressive blocking on the offensive line, and Tobi Ojo, Matt Susich, and Cam Nahim all scored for the Falcons. Parkway also converted on three of its four scores. Cam Kewley and Myles Breneus contributed long runs, while defenders Greg Stewart, Exavier Rojas, and Matt Susich turned in strong defensive efforts that allowed the Falcons to rebuff the Bulldogs' attack for most of the day. The E-team is now 3-2 on the season and will be heading to North Attleboro for a tough road contest against the Rockets on Sunday.

The D-team was also victorious against Sandwich on Sunday, defeating the Bulldogs 25-14. Dan Monaghan and Mike Brown powered the Falcon offense all day, leading them on three scoring drives. Ore Ojo scored  two of the team's four touchdowns and led the team in tackles on defense. Mohamed Traore had an interception and a touchdown.

The A and C teams lost close contests to North Attleboro and Sandwich respectively. Edosa Onaiwu broke two long touchdown runs for the Falcon A team as a part of a second half rally, but the Falcons' comeback fell short.

The Falcon cheer squads turned in enthusiastic performances throughout the day, buoying the spirits of the players and leading the Falcon fans. The A and C cheer teams will participate in a regional cheer competition later this month in Sandwich.
