Free presentation Mon. Oct. 5, 7-9 pm on Parenting Using Positive, Strength-Based Techniques at Learning Circle Preschool

Charlie Appelstein, M.S.W. will present Helping Children Be the Best They Can Be by Using Positive, Strength-Based Techniques.

Learning Circle Preschool, a non-profit school for preschoolers and kindergarteners ages 2.9-7, Milton Early Childhood Alliance, and the Curry College Education Department invite the community to join us for a free presentation by Charlie Appelstein, M.S.W. on Helping Children Be the Best They Can Be by Using Positive, Strength-Based Techniques.

This presentation will:
• Explain strength based practice
• Discuss the power of positive attitude and culture
• Provide self-esteem building tools and activities for young children
• Explore the importance of controlling personal emotions (taking care of yourself)
• Introduce respectful limit setting

Strength-based practice is an emerging approach to guiding children that is exceptionally positive and inspiring. Its focus is on strength building rather than flaw-fixing. It begins with the belief that every child has or can develop strengths to mitigate problem behavior and enhance social and academic learning.

Charlie Appelstein is a nationally prominent childcare specialist and author. Charlie trains and consults throughout the United States as well as internationally. He has authored three youth care books that are widely used within the field, including No Such Thing as a Bad Kid: Understanding and Responding to the Challenging Behavior of Troubled Children and Youth. His latest creation, a self-help CD for moms and dads titled Parent Rapsody – Songs and Musical Mantras for Successful Parenting won a national Mom’s Choice award. Charlie’s presentations are energetic, entertaining and incredibly informative. He looks forward to sharing ideas with you at the Learning Circle Preschool.
