Some in fact are loyal, loving and faithfully protective of their owners — just ask one West Roxbury man.Elliot Nerman, of West Roxbury, is crediting his dog with saving his life after a heart attack left him unresponsive and alone, according to an <a href="http://www.mspca.org/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">MSPCA</a> press report.Sweet Dee, Nerman's Pit Bull, immediately took action when she found her owner passed out on the couch in an unresponsive state.The swift-acting pup alerted Elliot's wife, Erin, who was sleeping in a nearby room. Dee barked loudly to wake Erin and then directed her to Elliot, allowing her to call for emergency medical services.Elliott was rushed to the hospital by first responders. He spent several days in a medically induced coma. Upon waking up, Elliot immediately turned his attention to the heroic actions his dog displayed."It's just astounding how Sweet Dee knew that something was very wrong and that it was clear to her that I wasn't sleeping," Elliot said. "She's a beloved member of our family but I never realized just how deep our bond is. Both Dee and my wife were there for me when I needed them most and I'm forever humbled and profoundly grateful."The Nerman's adopted Dee from the MSPCA five years ago."If anything, this whole situation has brought us that much closer," Elliot said.
