Ten Holiday Shows to See on The Cheap

At half price, they are a gift, and if you plan your day right, you can spend a day in the city for a song.

One hundred holiday productions are offering deep discounts on some of the season's best-loved annual productions as well as on long-running shows and one-off events. You can get tickets at the MayorsHolidaySpecial.com

For the seventh year running, the Mayor's Office of Tourism is collaborating with Arts Boston, the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau and area art and performance venues to create an affordable holiday experience. There are double the number of performances from last year's lineup.

Additionally, for the first time, a couple of dozen restaurants have added a $10 coupon.

"The goal is to attract more people to the area and make arts the central part of the experience," said Niki Lamberg of ArtsBoston.

She said the event has become a major fundraiser for ArtsBoston, which returns over $3 million dollars to local arts and artists.

Bostix, the half price ticket program of ArtsBoston, acts as the sales arm for participating productions.  The sale ends on Jan. 1. Here are ten shows worth the full price of admission. At half price, they are a gift, and if you plan your day right, you can spend a day in the city for a song.
