Looking to take a road trip and Get Out of West Roxbury this weekend and try something completely different? Check out Walburgers Restaurant in Hingham. Walburgers is owned and operated by Chef Paul Whalberg, whose famous brothers Donnie and Mark were on hand with a couple of their friends, like Red Sox David Ortiz, and "The Fighter" himself, Mickey Ward. You might not see one of the Wahlbergers, but you will be sure to see Hingham and get a hamburger.

After weeks of anticipation, October 25 was the day when Hingham Shipyard could welcome Wahlburgers to its growing family of restaurant options.

Hingham residents and burger fans have been following the development of Chef Paul Wahlberg's latest venture, especially as it is situated across the street from his alternative gastronomic experience.

After the stars had come out to play on Monday night, there was a line of people patiently waiting outside Wahlburgers on Tuesday afternoon. When the doors opened at 5 p.m. guests were greeted by television cameras and Chef Wahlberg himself, with some taking the option to sit in the bar rather than the express lane to get their first taste of the product.

Obviously the Wahlberg name has been instrumental in creating the buzz around the brand and there were diners that had travelled some distance to be part of the public opening day.

Christy Conlan and Jessica Chisholm had driven up from Rhode Island, admitting that they had hoped to be served their tater tots by Marky Mark.

"We've been obssessed with Mark and Donnie Wahlberg for ever and we love food" Jessica said.

Sitting in the bar area, Christy was impressed with the layout of the restaurant and would come back.

"It's worth coming to Hingham just in case Mark appears, but we will be buying merchandise and stealing napkins."

Evan Shaw-Mumford, who works in radio in Hartford, CT, had driven two hours to make sure he was here on the first day.

"I'm pretty impressed, the staff were friendly, helpful and got the orders out quickly" he said. "The burger is pretty good, I like the (Government) cheese and it's cool they have tater tots. It's a different style, sort of like a better 99 (Ninety-Nine Restaurant) experience."

Wahlberg hopes that the restaurant will be as much of a success as Alma Nove has been.

"This is the food I enjoy cooking," he said. "The other venue is more of a challenge to cook with all the 'fluff' but burgers are what I like to eat."

The one thing he can't guarantee is whether his brothers will be there on a regular basis but that shouldn't deter Hingham residents who enjoy burgers, fries and frappes from checking out the new kid on the block.
