West Roxbury Mosquito Spraying Postponed

The spraying will now be done on Tuesday and Thursday night.

Mosquito spraying, originally scheduled for Monday night in West Roxbury, has been postponed due to inclement conditions.

The Suffolk County Mosquito Control Project will be spraying for the insects using mounted, aerosol spraying in select neighborhoods on Tuesday, June 15 and Thursday, June 18. The spraying will be done between dusk and 11:30 p.m., the county said in a news release.

On Tuesday night, spraying will be done in neighborhoods near Spring Street, Laurie Avenue, Northdale Road, Johnson Street, Centre Terrace, Stimson Street and Grove Street.

On Thursday night, spraying is planned for neighborhoods in the vicinity of VFW Parkway that are located between Russet Road and Gardner Street. It includes streets near Garnet Road., Maple Street, Vermont Street, Lasell Road, Brook Farm Road, Carroll Street and Chesbrough Road.

The spay’s formula contains the pesticide Sumithrin. Sumithrin is slightly toxic. While it does not pose any immediate danger to humans or animals, exposure should be minimized.

Spraying will also be conducted in Hyde Park on Wednesday.
