West Roxbury resident and Roxbury Latin senior Akshat Shekhar has advanced to the final round of the 2012 Presidential Scholars competition, one of 550 students from an original national pool of approximately 3,300 students invited into the competition.

In April, the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars reviews the applications of semifinalists. As many as 141 students will be named 2012 U.S. Presidential Scholars, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students.
