According to a press release, the National Braille Press (NBP) is the only Braille publisher in North America that specializes in “how to” publications for blind children, hosted a cooking class for blind children who learned how to make selections from the NBP’s new cookbook Stir It Up! Recipes & Techniques for Young Blind Cooks.
During the class, blind and visually impaired children are taught how to make simple recipes that they can cook for themselves. The new cookbook was created especially for young blind children to help them get started in the kitchen. The class emphasized the importance of learning Braille for blind youth because Braille equals literacy and independence.
