West Roxbury's John Gaffney Receives Special Recognition from College Board’s AP Program as AP Scholar

Gaffney will attend Northwestern in the fall.

West Roxbury resident John Gaffney and Roslindale resident John Federico were awarded a special recognition by the College Board’s AP Program as Advanced Placement Scholars.

They are two of several students who scored at least an average of 3 (out of a possible 5) points on three or more AP exams taken in the spring of 2011.

In the fall, Gaffney will attend Northwestern University and Federico will attend Florida Institute of Technology.

“This is a great accomplishment for our students and for our faculty, who work so hard with our Advanced Placement students to maximize their potential,” said Catholic Memorial Guidance Department Director Bob Tegan.

This past school year, Catholic Memorial offered AP courses in 17 subjects for students.
