2012 Westwood-Dover Pop Warner Awards Recipients
Awards were given out in a ceremony last week.

In an annual ceremony held last week, the Westwood-Dover Pop Warner League honored a group of this year's athletes with various awards.
JUNIOR PEE WEE – Reissfelder Award

Given to the Junior Pee Wee individuals who by their actions exemplify, teamwork by making those around them perform at a higher level. Defensively for football and in general for cheerleading.

PEE WEE – Travers Award

Given to the Pee Wee individuals for excellence in intelligence, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership, all qualities that you want to see them display not only in athletic competition but also in life.
- Football: Paul McCarron & Thomas Herbert
- Cheer: Christina Trudo & Natalie Demaio
JR. MIDGET – John J. Nally Award
This award is given to the player who consistently exemplifies a passion and love for the game of football, always giving 100 percent of his effort. Regardless of win/loss record he remains dedicated and committed to the philosophy of “never giving up”. He recognizes the intrinsic value of always having fun while engaging in any sports activity. He is a team player who plays with heart, despite the outcome.
He is a leader on and off the field. Conducting himself respectfully and with integrity. He subscribes to the quote.
“Stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit. It’s when things seem worse that you mustn’t quit.”
- Football: Brendan Delaney, Caleb Axworthy, & Evan Traister
MIDGET – Mulgrew Award
Named after an 8th grader who was the ultimate team player and a great 3 sport athlete who passed away in 1978 as a student.
- Football: Nick Abbatangelo, Noah Henderson, & Dylan Linehan
VOLUNTEER – Burt Abel Award
Burt Abel was a founder and the first President of Westwood Pop Warner. Burt’s vision was to create a program where team work, discipline and hard work are honored and rewarded. This award honors his spirit, dedication and energy and is given annually to a coach, administrator or other volunteer who has made an extraordinary contribution to Westwood Pop Warner.
Awarded to: Mike Dicenzo. Accepted by Mike’s son, Mark Dicenzo, who played on the team from 1997 who participated in the Disney Tournament.
