Volleyball

Despite winning the opening game against Norton High School 25-14, the Westwood High School varsity volleyball team eventually fell to Norton 3-2 overall on Tuesday.

The Lancers rebounded to capture the second game, 25-19, though Westwood earned a hard-fought 28-26 decision in game three. But Norton won the fourth game 25-18 and topped things off with 15-12 victory in the fifth and deciding game.

Boys Cross Country

The Westwood High School varsity boys cross country team raced Bellingham Wednesday and finished with an 18-44 win.

Senior Matt Reissfelder won the 2.9 meter race in 17:08.

Meanwhile, Junior Bobby McLaughlin will run at the Massachusetts Coaches Association meet in Wrentham on Saturday morning in the Division-2 5K, and freshman Greg Campion will compete in the freshman Division-2 3K in Wrentham.

Girls Varsity Soccer

The girls came through with a 1-1 tie at Norton on Tuesday, according to Head Coach Tim Chant.

Ebru Hazar tied the game up midway through the second half; she received a cross from Marina Burke, beat two defenders going right and placed a hard driven shot into the upper left corner.

Nadine Taghian, playing with a sprained thumb, was solid in goal with six saves.
