Aged Wood Lacrosse Team to Return in 2012
The mens lacrosse team, which made it to the playoffs in its first year, returns to the turf with four games this spring.
Another year of excitement is in store for the group of lacrosse players that make up Westwood's all-male team known as Aged Wood.
The team kicked off its first season ever last year, and within a few months were able to make the playoffs.
"It's a rarity for a first-year team to make the playoffs," said goalie and Westwood resident John Hauck last summer, who also had a large hand in starting the team, which plays as part of the Old New England Lacrosse League.

Not only did the team make the playoffs, but a number of players were selected to play in the ONELL All-Star game before the Boston Cannons at Harvard Stadium.
Now, the team is poised to make a triumphant return to the turf, having practiced through the mild winter months and working out any first-year kinks as they look to continue with even more success in 2012.

"The team has continued to work and improve while playing through the winter in our indoor facility at the Canton Sportsplex," Hauck said this week in an email to Westwood Patch.
Aged Wood has four indoor "box" games scheduled in March and April, and the team will begin playing spring lacrosse in April and May in an effort to "tune up" and prepare for the ONELL league Championship this summer.
"We have added some new talent to the team, which should really boost our offensive and defensive capabilities," Hauck said.
The team has been scheduled to play the following games in March and April (more information can be found on the (Aged Wood website):
- March 4 – Sudbury Olde Patriots at 8 p.m.
- March 18 – Sudbury Olde Patriots at 8 p.m.
