Another Year, Another MIAA Tournament for Boys Hockey
The boys hockey team has made the playoffs for the last 30 years.
The Westwood Wolverines boys ice hockey team has built up quite a legacy over the years.
The Wolverines qualified again this season for the MIAA tournament, a feat it has continued for the last three decades.
Westwood’s 30 years of playoffs is the longest such streak in Massachusetts hockey, according to an ESPN Boston High School Report post Tuesday.

In the last three decades, the team has racked up 19 Tri-Valley League championships and four state championships, according to the ESPN post.
Coming off the heals of a strong year in 2011, having clinched the Tri-Valley League title, the team went on to see seven of its players move on as league All-Stars last season. Moreover, Head Coach Mike Welby even was named TVL Coach of the Year.

But several of those players went on to graduate in May last year, and as such, the boys team had been looking to advance the talent of both growing and seasoned players in the 2011-2012 season.
"It's certainly going to be a different year, losing 15 seniors, many of whom contributed at varying levels," Head Coach Mike Welby told Westwood Patch in December. "Losing those guys really hurt us."
But the boys have persevered to this point and again have accomplished success by making the MIAA tournament.
