Art of Children's Books with Author/Illustrator David Biedrzycki
Zullo Gallery in Medfield is hosting a special interactive "Art of Children's Books" presentation by award-winning author/illustrator David Biedrzycki as part of the Zullo “Culture Club” series made possible by a Medfield Foundation Inc. Legacy Fund grant.
Two back-to-back sessions are offered at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. During these sessions, Biedrzycki will entertain audiences of all ages with a demonstration and a bit of storytelling regarding the making of his newly released book, “The Last Leaf,” published by Charlesbridge. He will also be autographing books and posing for photos.
“The Last Leaf” tells the heartwarming story about a young soccer player who is struggling during her fall season, and is ready to call it quits. However, one stubborn leaf hanging onto a tree inspires her to persevere, believe in herself, and overcome challenges.
While tickets are required, thanks to the Legacy Fund grant, this event offers flexible pricing (even free) to ensure anyone can attend regardless of cost. However space is limited, and tickets are expected to go fast, so families are encouraged to secure their seats far in advance from zullogallery.org/culture-club-series.
In keeping with Biedrzycki's commitment to literacy, and his deep appreciation for librarians, the Zullo Gallery is hosting his talk in collaboration with Friends of Medfield Public Library, which will receive free copies of his book.
Biedrzycki is a nationally recognized author/illustrator who has created more than two dozen books. In addition to “The Last Leaf,” his other picture books include “Breaking News: Bear Alert,” “Me and My Dragon,” “SumoKitty,” “Invasion of the Unicorns,” and “ARTificial Intelligence.”
An engaging presence with young audiences, he also visits schools to talk to students about his creative process. His speaking engagements have taken him all over the world.
