“My passion for education began early, from my days as a high school intern within the elementary schools in my hometown to my graduate work in Western Maryland, counseling at-risk students from underprivileged communities. I am and will continue to be an active participant in our schools and the community,” Parmelee said.
Parmelee received both her BA in Psychology and M.Ed in School Counseling from Frostburg State University (Frostburg, Maryland). She is a business owner with more than 20 years’ experience in the fields of higher education and human resources.

“It is important that we prepare our students to become global citizens. While working in higher education and corporate HR, I have observed that having this broad worldview is of utmost importance, particularly when applying to colleges and moving into our global community” she said.
Parmelee first began serving the school community as a room parent and library volunteer before joining the PTO board at the Integrated Preschool as treasurer. In August 2020, she joined the Hanlon PTO as Co-President and spearheaded several initiatives including a Diversity and Inclusion StoryWalk ® series and efforts to raise funds for classroom air purifiers. She has also been a SEPAC liaison to multiple district schools and active volunteer with the New England Epilepsy Foundation.
“My husband and I were drawn to Westwood because of its excellent reputation for public education. I now have experience developing collaborative relationships with the district over the last six years across three elementary schools and the integrated preschool. I want to help our schools continue to evolve and promote successful initiatives between our town and the schools” says Parmelee.
Parmelee has been engaging in conversations with residents across the district and encourages more individuals to reach out to her. She can be reached at her campaign email address. For more information visit www.doriforwestwood.com
