Dr. J Robert Buchanan Former CEO of MGH Revisits Fox Hill Village for 25th Anniversary
On Thursday May 28th, Dr. J. Robert Buchanan, former Director of Emeritus of Massachusetts General Hospital, revisited Fox Hill Village.
On Thursday May 28th, Dr. J. Robert Buchanan, former Director of Emeritus of Massachusetts General Hospital, revisited Fox Hill Village to celebrate their 25th Anniversary. As one of its founding members, Dr. Buchanan spent this time with residents describing the early years of development of Fox Hill Village. The idea originated around 1983 and the project planning began around 1984, with the building opening in 1990. Among those originally involved were Sales Director Anne Connolly and General Council of Fox Hill Heather Sawitsky who also gave a brief bio of herself at this event. After a Q&A, the residents were thrilled to have a meet and greet with Dr. Buchanan.
Dr. J. Robert Buchanan has had a massive impact on healthcare and education throughout his career on both a national and international scale.

· From 1961 to 1969, he advanced from instructor to professor of medicine at Cornell, and was appointed dean of the medical school in 1969.
· In 1977, he was recruited to Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago as president of the Medical Center and to the Pritzker School of Medicine of the University of Chicago as professor of medicine and associate dean.

· His reach expanded through development of Medflight and service on the boards of state hospital associations. He has devoted the majority of his retirement to helping establish Western-quality health care services and health professions education programs in Pakistan, Afghanistan and East Africa through 25-plus years working with the Aga Khan Development Network. In December 2012, a major lecture hall at the Aga Khan University was dedicated to and named for Dr. Buchanan.
