Race To Nowhere Documentary

A concerned mother turned filmmaker aims her camera at the high-stakes, high-pressure culture that has invaded our schools and our children’s lives. This remarkable new film shines a light on the price young people pay for this “race to nowhere.” High-stakes testing has replaced meaningful teaching and learning. Cheating is commonplace. Stress-related illness, depression and burnout are rampant. Many young people arrive at college and the workplace unprepared and uninspired. Attend a screening and become part of the grassroots phenomenon that is feeding a groundswell for change.

“Race to Nowhere raises provocative questions about the youth development structure we have created for our children,” said Eric Arnold, who is the Executive Director of Hale Reservation and has seen the film. “It provides insight into the lives of students and questions how we parent and educate them on a daily basis. It is fantastic that parents and educators in Westwood have an opportunity to see the film and discuss the implications.”
