Westwood Historical Society Presents “Needlework: An Exhibit”

On Sunday, Nov. 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Fisher Schoolhouse, the Westwood Historical Society will present an exhibit on Needlework.

The exhibit features an eclectic display of varying forms and styles of needlework representing the past and the present. The works highlight the talents and handiwork of West Dedham/Westwood residents and their families. Items provided by members of the community, including Joan Murphy, Marcia Grey, Susan Dyer, Barbara Greppin, and Joy Sudduth are featured along with items from the Historical Society's collection.

Exhibit items include samplers made in April 1796 by Lucy Phipps Farrington aged 10, a hand-woven embroidered sampler made in 1828 by 12-year-old Nabby R. Baker, a bed jacket made by Marjorie S. White as a 4-H project in 1920, and a quilt made by the Dorcas Society in 1932 consisting of squares containing the names of Westwood residents.
