Girls Lacrosse Rolls on With Win Against Medway
Westwood scored 13 goals in the first half on their way to their ninth straight victory.
Westwood's varsity girls lacrosse team continued its in-state dominance Tuesday afternoon after pounding Medway at home, 20-5, improving to 9-0 on the season.
The scoring started just under a minute and a half in, when Laura McHoul stole a pass from the Medway goalie and put in her first of six goals on the day.
“Re-defending is a big thing for me,” McHoul said. “I threw it away a few times so I especially feel it’s important to try and get it back.”

McHoul stole a second ball from the Mustang goalie 15 minutes in and put that one home as well.
In addition to McHoul’s six goals, the scoring was spread out nicely amongst both starters and backups.

Sarah Biron put in four goals, Kate Rich had three, Emily McGrail, and Ela Hazar each had two and Christa Demovellan, Emily Haddad and Kim Egizi each scored one.
Once the 19-goal mark was reached for the Wolverines, they slowed the offense down, scoring just once more in the final seven minutes and tuned up some of the basics.
“We're never trying to really get out of our game, but we like to work on out set offenses and move the ball around,” said assistant coach Bryan Petillo.
“We like to give everyone touches and work on plays that we normally wouldn’t be able to do against tougher opponents,” McHoul added.
The Mustangs never backed down, however, as they scored five goals, including two from three-sport captain Sarah Coakley and all parties left satisfied with the result.
“We always learn something when we play Westwood,” said Medway head coach Mary Burke. “We just try and set personal goals as well as team goals and try and come away with something more positive than the score.”
“They always help us work on the specific things we need to do better as a team; they prepare us for our next game and we appreciate that,” added Burke.
