Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Woburn
John Hauck's 12 saves were not enough against Woburn's offense Tuesday night.
Aged Wood, , dropped its second game of the season Tuesday evening at against Bald Eagles of Woburn 6-3, falling to 1-1.
The Eagles, who have been playing together for four years now, jumped out to a quick lead just three minutes in, when Tim Johnson fired a shot past Westwood goalkeeper John Hauck. Johnson scored the first two goals for the Eagles and acknowledges his teammates for always knowing where he is on the field.
“It’s the comfort of playing with them and being able to take good shots,” Johnson said. “You get that trust of knowing where someone’s going to be and getting used to their cutting style and playing style.”

Johnson’s two goals were split up by the first Westwood score of the game, which came with minutes remaining in the first quarter. Eric Dehon took contact but eventually found his way past multiple defenders and knotted the game up at one.
That was the score at the end of the period until Johnson put in his second three minutes into the second on a pass from Brett Leary.

Hauck made 10 saves in the half, but saw his team trailing 4-2 at the half after being out-shot 18-11.
“We were pretty busy today,” Hauck said. "They had a good team and were very well schooled and they moved the ball very well.”
The Eagles opened the second half right out of the gate with another goal, giving them a 5-2 lead and they never let up. Woburn was able to control the tone from there and hold on for the victory.
“They played very smart and had two guys slow the ball down and control the tempo and then were able to get into their comfort zone, and that was the difference,” Hauck said. “We were able to work to get the good shots and you could see in the end we were rushing to even get shots and you could see they did a great job playing a much more settled, controlled game.”
Westwood finished the game being out-shot 27-20, with a few of those shots being rushed late as Hauck mentioned.
Hauck ended with 12 saves and Woburn’s Rick Kelley had four.
This was just the second game for Aged Lacrosse and Johnson already sees potential in them down the road.
“Although they are a new team, they’ve got some quality players and it’s not going to take long for them to climbs through the ranks,” he said.
Eric Dehon scored two goals for Westwood and the other came from Mike Stanton and Woburn’s other goal-scorers were John Isaf, Brett Leary and Chris Heline.
Both teams will play next on Tuesday.
