PHOTOS: Students Send Holiday Blessings with Handmade Cards
The Deerfield School's student council organized a whole-school event to make holiday cards for seniors, U.S. troops and others in need this season.
With the holidays coming this week, students from all grade levels at the on Monday took some time at the end of the day to send a message of love and hope to others.
For the first time this year, the school's student council organized a holiday card-making event.
For an hour after school on Monday, students worked on creating artistic, handmade cards to send to Westwood seniors, U.S. troops, area childrens' hospitals, and more.

The following shows a breakdown of which classes made cards for various groups and organizations:
- Kindergartners and fifth graders worked to make cards for Boston Children's Hospital.
- First graders and fifth graders made cards for the Ellis Nursing Home.
- One group of kindergartners and fourth graders made cards for the Westwood Food Pantry, and Westwood Meals on Wheels program.
- Another group of kindergartners and fourth graders made cards for the Franciscan Children's Hospital.
- One group of third graders and second graders made cards for Dana Farber.
- Another group of third graders and second graders made cards for U.S. Troops, specifically the 1-182 Massachusetts Army National Guard.
