Potters from Westwood to Showcase Artwork in May
Four residents from Westwood will take part in the annual Potters Place spring Show and Sale event May 4-6.
Four Westwood residents are gearing up for another display of their art next weekend.
Henriette Dressens, Lisa B. Walker, Jane Wojick and Kathy Whelan will join 23 fellow potters to exhibit and sell their pottery at the Potters Place Spring Show & Sale, which takes place next weekend, starting Friday and running through Sunday.
The times of the Show and Sale are as follows:

- Friday, May 4, 6–9 p.m.
- Saturday, May 5, 9 a.m.–8 p.m.
- Sunday, May 6, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The four potters' work this year is inspired by the show’s theme, “Flora and Fauna.”
The show will feature a variety of pottery items for purchase in all price ranges. Items include vases, batter bowls, mugs, berry bowls, embellished platters, casserole dishes, bowl sets, cookie jars, plates, garden ornaments, sculptures and more.

Patrons can also learn about the opportunity to get a more inside look at the craft of pottery, as well as the upcoming classes at Potters Place for both adults and children.

“My interpretation of the theme involves my interest in stamp collection," Walker said in a statement. "The image on this small platter is from a United States postage stamp entitled ‘Love You! Mom.’ My mother and maternal grandmother were avid collectors and I learned to look at all kinds of art within the confines of a postage stamp.”
For her part, Whelan has been experimenting with leaf designs in her pottery and quilting, carving leaves into mugs and teapots, incising leaf designs into plates, and even forming three dimensional leaf shaped serving platters.
