Retired Coast Guardsman From Westwood Honored At Fenway Park
Kevin Sareault, a 19-year Pan-Mass Challenge rider, was recognized at PMC Day.

WESTWOOD, MA – A 19-year Pan-Mass Challenge rider and retired member of the Coast Guard was honored by the Red Sox at Fenway Park on Saturday. Kevin Sareault was recognized during the "Hats Off To Heroes" celebration on PMC Day at the Sox-Tigers game.
Sareault, coordinator of the Sandwich PMC Kids Ride, retired as a U.S. Coast Guard captain after 30 years in uniform. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal three times, in addition to the Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Coast Guard Achievement Medal and numerous other personal and unit honors during his tenure with the Coast Guard.
According to his PMC blog, Sareault rode in his first PMC in 1996, only taking a short break from 2007-09 due to his Coast Guard obligations. The ride became a family affair for Sareault, who proposed to his wife at the 2003 Pan-Mass Challenge after joking to his PMC friends that if he could find a woman to ride with him on a tandem bike, he would marry her.

This year, Sareault will be one of more than 6,200 cyclists riding 192 miles with the goal of raising $48 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Funds raised by the PMC account for more than 52 percent of the Jimmy Fund's annual revenue, helping to fund cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber.
