Swim Team Finishes 2011 Season, Places Fifth at State Meet

The girls finished with an 8-2 record for the season.

The varsity swim team wrapped up its 2011 season this past weekend at the State Meet on Saturday against Bishop Feehan High School, which was held at MIT.

The girls placed fifth in the league (moving up from eighth last year), wrapping up the season with an 8-2 record.

200 Medley Relay (5th place 1:55.25 - Broke the school record that hasn't been broken since 1996): 

  • Backstroke: Kate Vanasse (Senior, Captain)
  • Breaststroke: Jackie Kremer (Freshman)
  • Butterfly: Jackie McDonald (Junior)
  • Freestyle: Maddy McDonald (Senior) 

200 Freestyle Relay (10th Place):

400 Freestyle (third place - 3:47.14; broke school record that was set in 2003):

200 Freestyle (Placed 10th with lifetime best of 2:07.74):

  • Bridget Burke (Junior) 

50 Freestyle:

  • Kate Vanasse - 2nd place, lifetime best of 24.62
  • Maddy McDonald - 4th place, lifetime best of 25.54

100 Freestyle:

  • Kate Vanasse - 1st place, lifetime best of 53.34
  • Maddy McDonald - 10th place, lifetime best 56.42

dominated the 1-meter diving event, winning with a score of 491.10 and breaking her own record for the fourth time this season.

"All of the swimmers had best swims and was a wonderful way to end my first season and the best post season for the Westwood seniors in their four years," Carter said.
