Truck Stuck on Underside of East Street Bridge

A laundry truck attempted to use a train bridge that is marked "low clearance."

An ImageFIRST laundry truck trying to squeeze under a “low clearance” train bridge in Westwood on Wednesday morning didn’t quite make it.

The top of the truck got caught on the underside of the 10-foot 6-inch bridge around 8:30 a.m., tearing off part of the top of the vehicle. The operator got out to survey the damage, and then backed up the vehicle and turned around. The bridge did not appear to have sustained any serious damage, according to NECN.

There were four crashes at the same spot this summer. The video footage, released by the Westwood Police, was captured by a traffic camera specifically dedicated to the area.

The MBTA’s Franklin Commuter Rail line runs on top of the bridge. WHDH reported that accidents continue to happen despite warning symbols and signs.
