Vintage Westwood: First Parish Church of Westwood
An old photo of the First Parish Church of Westwood and a little on the church's history.

The First Parish Church was organized in 1730 as the Clapboard Trees Parish. In 1736, the parish was known as the Third or West Parish of West Dedham. In 1898, the church became the First Parish of Westwood. In 1944, it was called the Federated Unitarian and Congregational Parish. At the invitation of the First Parish of Westwood, Unitarian, the Congregationalists joined with the older parish in a federated church. In 1950 the dual organization was succeeded by a single congregation: The First Parish of Westwood, United Church.
