One thing's for sure - it was far from a boring year for sports.
From a victorious girls lacrosse season to a golf championship team, there are plenty points to highlight from the Wolverines' teams this year.
Here are 10 top sports stories and events from 2011:

: The Wolverines (25-0-1) captured the Division 1 State Title in June by defeating the Longmeadow Lancers 15-9 at Foley Stadium in Worcester. It was the third title for the Wolverines in the last four seasons.
: The Westwood High School boys varsity ice hockey team won the Tri-Valley League title in February with a 4-2 win against league rival Medfield.

: Westwood was aglow in June after the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup last season. Town employees and residents talked about their excitement surrounding the team's 4-0 win in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals to the Vancouver Canucks.
: In mid-November, Westwood's varsity golf team was recognized for this fall by the Westwood School Committee.
: Westwood's boys and girls ski teams wrapped up the 2011 season in March, with both finishing in fourth place in their division. The boys finished with 917 total points, while the girls team finished with 691 points.
: Westwood resident and Canadian Kerri Muir returned to the Red Bull Crashed Ice Competition in March after winning the last two years.
: In April, eighth graders Lulu Swartz, 14, and Katherine Heidelberger, 13, left for Anaheim, California on March 29 and made it to the quarter-finals of the Tier 2 National Championship Tournament. The girls qualified for Nationals after competing in the Massachusetts State Tournament the weekend of March 11-13.
: On June 18, the Westwood Youth Softball League girls' minor league division championship was decided in a contest between The Heat and The Sunbirds. The Sunbirds won the championship, finishing a perfect season with their 10th straight victory.
: The Westwood Major League baseball championship game took place on Saturday, June 19, with the Mets taking on the Red Sox. The Mets, coached by John Henderson, Brett Albert and Charlie DeAngelis, topped the Red Sox with a final score of 4-3. Brett Middleton pitched all six innings and was named the MVP.
: In a turn-around from to St. John's Prep, the Xaverian Hawks pulled away a 28-21 victory on the road in Danvers this year.
