Westwood Coronavirus: Firefighter Tests Positive
The firefighter was in contact with nine other firefighters while on duty.
WESTWOOD, MA — A Westwood firefighter tested positive for the new coronavirus and was in contact with nine other firefighters while on duty. Westwood officials said the firefighter did not have contact with the public.
A different firefighter in the Islington Fire Station was sent home on Monday afternoon after showing signs of a fever. The firefighter and others in contact with them during the day are being tested, according to the town. The station was closed to be cleaned and is expected to reopen by 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
All firefighters in contact with both infected firefighters are being tested, the town said.

Westwood officials said the town will continue to run fire operations out of the fire headquarters on High Street and to staff as if both stations were open.
Westwood reported 21 cases of the new coronavirus in town since testing began. In the last week, the town saw 16 cases — seven cases have been released from quarantine.
