Westwood Little League to Host Hot Stove Event

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29.

Spring is still a long ways off, but the Westwood Little League isn't about to let a little cold weather get in the way. 

To warm up as it looks ahead to the spring season, the WLL will be hosting its first annual "Hot Stove" event at the end of the month

The family-oriented event for all ages, will take place on Sunday, Jan. 29 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the cafeteria, and will feature games, crafts, music, hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn and ice cream.

Siagel Productions DJ will get the kids swinging to warm up the group, and STATIC, a contemporary teen rock band, will be on hand, performing two live sets in the high school auditorium. The band comprises Westwood residents and former little leaguers Jason Oberstein, Trevor Brown, Jeremy Brown, Matt Mackenzie and Owen Grady.

Representatives from local baseball facilities, such as TJO, will also be present to talk about winter and spring training opportunities for athletes.

will offer baseball and other sports memorabilia for sale, and attendees can enter a raffle to win an iPad2, courtesy of New England Sports Photo.

Registration for the spring season will be accepted at the Westwood Little League information table at the event. Those wishing to register prior to the event can do so at WestwoodLittleLeague.com through Jan. 31.

WLL officials will end the event with a look back at last season and a look ahead at what's coming this year.
