Westwood Man Allegedly Causes Two-Car Crash While Under Influence of Heroin: Police

Police say the man had struck a parked vehicle on Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington.

ARLINGTON, MA — A Westwood man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly causing a two-car crash on Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington while under the influence of heroin.

Arlington Police announced Thursday that the unidentified man, 27, was found unconscious and slumped over in the driver's seat of his Ford Taurus suffering from an overdose. Police later learned that the man hit a Subaru Legacy which was parked eastbound on Mass. Avenue.

The man who was inside the parked vehicle noticed the Westwood man was unresponsive and called 9-1-1. The man in the Subaru was not injured, police and paramedics administered a dose of Narcan to the Westwood man helping him to regain consciousness. He was later transported to Mt. Auburn hospital.

The Westwood man will be summonsed to Cambridge District Court on charges of operating under the influence, operating to endanger and a marked lanes violation. Police say his name will be released during arraignment.
