Not a fan of Mondays? If you have the chance to take this Monday off, and you happen to be a golf enthusiast, you're in luck.
On Monday, golfers from Westwood will hit the fairway of the in Sharon to take part in the .
The event, which began at the hands of Westwood resident Steve Hurley, helps raise money for the Westwood Community Chest as well as the Westwood Boosters Club.
"The whole notion of it is just to have an opportunity in town to get out for a day and golf," said John Loughnane, who helps organize the event. "Originally, it wasn't around any charitable act; just the thought of getting together and hitting the links for the day. Over the years, because it was a community-based event, it would be good to support the community."
The combination of a mid-day round of golf, coupled with giving back to two charities that benefit Westwood residents is something Loughnane said is a win-win.
"This is really the Westwood Open with the charitable component being a natural part of it at this point," Loughnane said. "The main purpose of this is to get folks together around town."
Those interested in signing up can do so as a foursome or even as a single or pair and join up with another group. The event is open to both male and female golfers of any level.
The Open will feature a raffle and prize giveaway, as well as food a drinks.
