Wolverines Fly Past Blackhawks
Westwood's boys' lacrosse team scored 10 goals in the first quarter as they cruised past Bellingham Tuesday morning.
There was no shortage of goals Tuesday morning as Westwood's boys' lacrosse team scored 10 times in the first quarter in a 15-2 routing over Bellingham at Flahive field.
The 15 goals tied a season-high for the Wolverine offense, and both Sean Condrick and Casey McQuillan recorded hat tricks in the victory.
Westwood controlled the majority of the game, capitalized on face-offs and seemed to be scoring at will for much of the morning.

“Our attack was on point today,” said Westwood Head Coach Todd Zahurak. “We were making it and taking it with face-offs and as one of our guys said, it’s a lot easier to play when you have the ball.”
Westwood opened up a 10-1 first-quarter lead that featured goals from Casey McQuillan (3), Charlie Audi (2), Sean Condrick (2), Conor Murphy, Shane Troy and Mike Keane. Goalie Chris Annis stopped two out of the three shots that came his way and he, along with the majority of the starters saw limited minutes after the impressive start.

Condrick talked about the importance of bringing the bench in to gain the much-needed experience.
“These are the games that we need to give the people reps who don’t usually touch the field,” Condrick said. “Some of the top teams like Medfield, and Dover-Sherborn can rely on third and fourth-line players to go out there and get the job done just as well as their first-line guys so that’s what we try to work on in these games.”
Westwood lost to both Medfield, 19-3 and Dover-Sherborn, 17-6 earlier in the season, and Zahurak explained where he thinks his team stands within the conference.
“We’re right in the middle of the pack," Condrick said. "On a good day, we can run with the big dogs and on a day like today we take care of business and move on.”
Backup goalie Pat Masi-Phelps took over for Annis and played the second and fourth quarters in net and Derin Ahigian played the third.
Sean Laughlin added goals in each of the second and third quarters and both Condrick and Keane added to their totals in the third. Mike Raskin put in the final goal for the Wolverines with 15 seconds left in regulation.
