Xaverian Student Receives Weight Lifting Medal

One of 's own recently took home an award from the Second Annual Ryan Moore New England Open High School Powerlifting Championships. 

Senior Ian MacPherson, a Westwood resident, was named Best Overall Lifter in the male division after lifting 418 pounds in the squat event, 264 pounds in the bench press, and 375 pounds in the deadlift, according to Xaverian's website.

MacPherson lifted a total of 1,057 pounds at the event, more than seven times his body weight.

Moreover, Xaverian won the team trophy at the event, earning 14 first-place medals, three second-place medals, and four third-place medals.

It's been an exciting couple of months for other Xavieran athletes, too. Last month, four at the college level next eyar.
