Xaverian Tennis Defeats Catholic Memorial, 4-1

The Hawks are now 1-3 with Thursday's win.

's varsity tennis team won in a victory over Catholic Memorial 4-1 in a home match held on Thursday.

Winning for the Hawks (1-3) were freshman Jamie Chisholm at second singles, sophomore Nate Cohen at third singles, according to Head Coach Michael Mowatt.

The first doubles team, made up of senior John Coville and junior Talis Reks, came back from being down 1-4 in the second set to win their match 6-3, 6-4. The second doubles team, made up of juniors Sean McCarthy and Colin Gilpatric, won the third set in a tie-breaker 10-5 after splitting the first two sets.

"I was impressed with the comebacks by my doubles teams," said Mowatt. "It really showed that they can come through in the clutch and when the cards are stacked against them. It was good to get our first win under our belts. We are a good team, but we also have a tough schedule which will test us."

Xaverian hits the road today to take on B.C. High.
