Xaverian Tennis Falls to Hingham

The Hawks are now 0-1 after the loss to the defending Division 2 State Champions.

Despite a strong match, the Xaverian Bros. varsity tennis team fell to Hingham, the defending Division 2 State Champions, at home on Wednesday, Head Coach Michael Mowatt told Westwood Patch.

"We started out by winning both singles with senior co-captain Brandon Sepe winning 6-4, 6-4 at first singles against Matt Port," said Mowatt. "Freshman Jamie Chisholm won his first career match 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 against Woody Roman."

Meanwhile, sophomore Nate Cohen performed well at third singles, but could not come back against Rohan Rau, losing 0-6, 4-6, Mowatt said.

After losing a tough tie-breaker in the first set, the doubles team of senior Tom Coville and junior Sean McCarthy, while junior Colin Gilpatric and senior Darick Lim, lost 3-6, 3-6 at second doubles.   

The team, now 0-1, heads to St. John's Prep for a match starting at 4 p.m. today.
