Boston Celtics Name Weymouth Woman a Hero Among Us
Cara Gould was recognized during the second quarter of Friday's Celtics' game.

A Weymouth woman was recently honored by the Boston Celtics as part of their Heroes Among Us program.
During the second quarter last Friday’s Celtics’ game at the TD Garden, Cara Gould was recognized by the team.

In 2007, after seeing a rise in violence among teenagers in Boston, especially during the summer months, Mayor Menino personally selected Cara Gould and the Boys & Girls Clubs to develop and operate a summer camp where young people could feel safe and supported. Cara founded Camp Harbor View on Long Island in Boston Harbor which strives to build children’s confidence and leadership through innovative programing. 800 young people from every neighborhood in Boston attend the camp annually and tuition is just five dollars for four weeks of camp. Under Cara’s direction, over 3,700 kids have attended Camp Harbor View.
Since its establishment in 1997 by the Boston Celtics, The Heroes Among Us program has recognized outstanding individuals who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to their communities. The award is presented at every Celtics home game and pays tribute to the heroic achievements of these outstanding citizens.
