Mayoral Candidates Take Credit for SouthField

Both Mayor Susan Kay and state Sen. Robert Hedlund are touting their experience with the massive development.

The two remaining candidates for mayor both say they can help keep SouthField on a path of success if elected.

Mayor Susan Kay said she has spent the most time on the project, going back to when it was known as the South Weymouth Naval Air Station according to the Patriot Ledger. She has also worked on changes when then-developer Starwood Land Ventures and negotiated an agreement that gives the city $2 million over the next four years.

As a state senator, Robert Hedlund said he helped create legislation changes as the project was modified in 2005, 2008, and 2014.
