On Sunday, March 9th from 5pm until 7pm, Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan, in
conjunction with the Braintree Historical Society will host an event at
the Southside Tavern in South Braintree Square, featuring special guest,
The Honorable Ray Flynn, former Mayor of Boston and US Ambassador to
the Holy See. "Ray Flynn is a great friend of Braintree," said Mayor Joe
Sullivan. "He is a wonderful story teller and has much to share with us
about his ancestry." Ambassador Flynn will share perspectives about his
time in office as mayor of Boston and his ambassadorship to the
Vatican, as well as the Irish population and their migration to Boston
and suburbs like Braintree. Matthew Mees, President of Braintree
Historical is, "...appreciative to The Town and Mayor Sullivan for their
support." Mees says he is excited to welcome Ray Flynn on behalf of
Braintree Historical for this event."
Southside Tavern is preparing
an Irish buffet and a cash bar will be available. There is limited
seating for this event. Tickets are $30 each for Braintree Historical
Society members and will be on sale Wednesday, February 26th. All other
tickets will be offered for $35 each on Saturday, March 1st. Your
