Protest Group: 4 Arrests Made At Weymouth Compressor Station Site
The group Fore River Residents Against the Compressor Station said Weymouth police arrested four during Thursday morning gas line protest.
WEYMOUTH, MA — Protestors from the Fore River Residents Against the Compressor Station were out in force in Weymouth on Thursday morning where they said about 30 protestors blocked the national gas compressor station entrance on Bridge Street. FRRAC social media reports said that four protestors were arrested in what the group is calling an act of civil disobedience.
Protestors, which have been at the construction site since Tuesday, blocked the gate of the site Thursday morning with signs that read "No Fracking Wey" and "Caution! Contaminated Soil." There was also a banner in front of a truck that read: "Fore River Residents Say No More Toxins."
The group posted a live stream of Thursday morning's protest, which drew dozens of police officers and resulted in arrests.

The compressor station along the Fore River received approval from the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management last month in the final of four regulatory hurdles Algonquin, the company behind the project, needed approved.
Residents and elected officials in Braintree, Hingham, Quincy and Weymouth have expressed concern and have opposed the project, but Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs spokesperson Katie Gronendyke said upon the final approval that the project met all state and federal safety regulations, and that the project had passed air-quality testing impact assessments.
