Rockland Man Hit by Alleged Drunk Driver Dies
Prosecutors say a person hit by a drunk driver in Weymouth last month has passed away.

A Rockland man who was hit by a car near the soccer fields at Southfield has died.
Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office spokesman David Traub told the Patriot Ledger that Chris Williams, 51, has died.
While there are no new charges for the suspect, Stephen Burke,46, of Weymouth, prosecutors say new charges are possible.

On Oct. 10 around 2 p.m., an officer working a private detail responded to a crash in the parking lot adjacent to the Southfield soccer fields. The officer allegedly observed a blue Volkswagen Jetta driven by Burke hit several vehicle and Williams.
Williams was taken to South Shore Hospital and later transferred to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with serious injuries.

Burke was arrested and charged with drugged driving and negligent operation causing serious bodily injury, drunken driving and negligent operation of a motor vehicle causing serious bodily harm, drunken driving (second offense), operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
He is currently being held without in the Dedham House of Corrections and is due back in court on Dec. 1.
